INDUSTRIAL RECTIFIERS

Buffalo Power Electronics Center, Inc. (BPEC), AC to DC power conversion units designed for General Industrial applications, including Synchronous Motor Field Excitation. They include the original standard Westinghouse line of R300 and R20SI rectifiers.  The units are available in standard DC output voltages of 125 and 250 volts.  The R300 line covers the industrial rectifiers and Synchronous Motor Field Exciters up to 300kW.  The R20SI line covers industrial rectifiers from 500 to 3000kW.  These DC power supplies have the inherent advantages of solid state equipment: low maintenance and operating costs, high efficiency and excellent regulation.  They are designed, rated and tested in accordance with ANSI standard C34.2.

Along with these industrial rectifiers, BPEC also supplies a Regenerative Control (see brochure link, bottom of this page) to absorb DC power regenerated by overhauling loads when required.

BPEC also manufactures special purpose rectifiers for customer applications.  These units can be supplied for applications ranging from 10 to 100,000A and from 5 to 1,000V.  They are available with many types of cooling methods for use in most environments.
 
 

Buffalo Power Electronics Center's low voltage industrial rectifiers are ideal for use whenever un-regulated DC power is required.




An industrial rated rectifier system usually consists of AC switchgear, power transformer, silicon rectifier and DC switchgear; including metering and controls.

All units are provided with output ratings of 125VDC or 250VDC and units up to 100kW are suitable for 3-wire operation (except synchronous motor exciters).  Equipment ratings are provided in accordance with the ANSI standard C34.2 definitions as follows:

R300 Ratings (see our brochure for complete details)
(3kW to 100KW) - ANSI General Purpose Industrial Rectifiers
100% load continuous in 40ºC ambient followed by:  150% current for one minute, or 200% current for 10 seconds.

(100kW to 300kW - ANSI Light Industrial Service Rectifiers
100% load continuous in 40ºC ambient followed by:  125% current for two hours, or 200% current for 10 seconds.

Synchronous Motor Field Exciters
100% load continuous in 40ºC ambient followed by:  150% current for one minute.

(500kW to 3000kW) - ANSI Industrial Service Rectifiers
100% load continuous in 40ºC ambient followed by:  125% current for two hours, or 200% current for 10 seconds.

To obtain even higher ratings, silicon rectifier systems may be paralleled with each other or with existing conversion equipment having similar regulation characteristics.
